A healthy lifestyle will make your heart healthier
A healthy lifestyle will make your heart healthier. Here are 4 things you can do to look after your heart.
1. Eat healthy fats, NOT trans fats
We need fats in our diet, including saturated and polyunsaturated, and unsaturated fats. One fat we don't need is trans-fat, which is known to increase your risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke over a lifetime. This is because trans-fat clogs your arteries by raising your bad cholesterol levels (LDL) and lowering your good cholesterol levels (HDL). By cutting them from your diet, you improve the blood flow throughout your body. So, what are trans fats? They are industry-produced fats often used in packaged baked goods, snack foods, margarine, and fried fast foods to add flavors and texture.
2. Manage your weight
Being overweight can increase your risk of heart disease. Stick to a healthy, balanced diet low in fat and sugar, with plenty of fruit and vegetables, combined with regular physical activity.
3. Eat fish
Eat fish at least twice a week, including a portion of oily fish. Fish such as mackerel, sardines, fresh tuna, and salmon are a source of omega-3 fats, which can help protect against heart disease.
4. Cut down salts
Watch out for high salt levels in ready-made foods. Most of the salt we eat is already in the foods we buy. Check the food labels - a food is high in salt if it has more than 1.5g salt (or 0.6g sodium) per 100g. Adults should eat less than 6g of salt a day in total - that's about one teaspoon.
Also, get regular heart check-ups done. For all your cardiac diagnosis tests, Holter at home is the best option. We provide our services to you at your home anywhere in Ghaziabad and Noida. We have the best Holter monitor test in Ghaziabad and Noida.
